A sculpture on wood by prominent Bulacan artist Danny S. Pangan awaits this year’s awardees of the Gawad Anak ng Paaralan at the Araw ng Alumni 2016 on November 30.
The Gawad, on its second year, is an annual tribute of the MHPNHS Alumni Association (MAA) to alumni members–both living and dead—and alumni groups who have made significant achievements and contributions to the school, the community, and the alumni association.
The names of the three awardees in 2016—two individuals and one group–who will receive the heritage-themed narra plaque sculpture will be announced during the alumni day celebration.
The exquisite sculpture is designed and executed by Danny S. Pangan, a prominent visual artist of Bulacan whose works have been shown in numerous exhibitions in the Philippines and abroad.
The sculpture depicts the first building of Bulacan High School built at the provincial capitol in 1905 and inaugurated in 1906—emphasizing this year’s theme alumni day theme, “Our History, Our Heritage”.
The well-crafted artwork on narra, an inch thick and ten inches in diameter, will henceforth be given to future Gawad awardees.
