As we welcome this coming new year, let’s be reminded of this 1952 memorandum by the first post-war principal of Marcelo H. del Pilar High School, Mr. Eliseo Tayao:
A FEW NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS FOR THE STUDENTS OF THE MARCELO H. DEL PILAR HIGH SCHOOL
- Come on time and make the Filipino Time just as good as the American time or any other time.
- Practice hard for the Meets [athletic competitions]. We have a responsibility. We are the defending champions. Our enrollment equals the enrollment of all public high schools in Bulacan
- Keep the Marcelo H. del Pilar High School clean, for danger and disease lurk in filth.
- 8:30-10-30 P.M. – Curfew Hour. All students should be in their homes to study. Wake up early to finish the lesson-assignment.
Avoid: Dancing in the cabaret, smoking, drinking, and gambling.
